CATIA's Functional Molded Part (FMP) is a part of MCE module and enables flexible and productive 3D modeling package dedicated to the design of molded and plastic parts. The application provides direct access to a collection of intuitive and powerful functional features that are useful for designing molded parts.  These are core and cavity design functional features that are used often throughout the design process, such as Extrude, Revolve, Cut, Thicken surface, Rib, Boss, Cutout, Rest, Pocket, Grill, Reinforcement, Shell and others.

Functional Modeling for Flexibility and Productivity

FMP gives the mold part designer flexibility and productivity increases thanks to its functional modeling approach.  These functional features differ from most other feature-based parametric CAD systems (including CATIA Part Design) in that each FMP feature performs a complex modeling task in one operation that would usually require several dedicated features.  This all-in-one concept saves considerable time when elaborating on a complex form.
